MINI-WORKSHOP ON SOLAR HEAT AND OPTICAL GENERATION RESEARCH

On the occasion of Prof. Strittmatter's visit to Japan, the mini workshop was held on the solar heat and the optical power generation research. He has long worked at astronomy, and is also concerned highly with solar heat and optical power generation research. Discussions with him on its recent topics were fruitfull throughout the workshop.

BRIEF HISTORY OF PROFESSOR STRITTMATTER

Prof. Strittmatter's recent activities include studies of accretion on to super-massive black holes in AGNs using viscosity prescriptions derived from hydrodynamic considerations. He is also involved in large telescope projects including the LBT, LSST and GMT and in coordinating work at the Steward Observatory Mirror Lab. He recently chaired a Faculty Senate Committee on reconfiguring the undergraduate program at the University of Arizona.
